Overseeding Your Lawn:
We all know that no one has the perfect lawn. If your lawn is in fair shape with only a few bare spots and has a thinning appearance, there are a few simple measures you can take to repair your lawn. Sometimes the best way to begin is to tackle and troubleshoot the problem before beginning. This is done with investigating why your lawn is thinning and has patches with no grass in some areas.
Lawn Maintenance Services in Fort Collins advise this investigation first and foremost. These troubled areas can come from obvious reasons and can be avoided in the future when caring for your lawn. Such as: Your family pet leaving a calling card. The soil may not drain well in that particular spot of the yard. You also could be experiencing an area that has too much shade on it, and might want to make a change to install plants and or shrubs in this area.
SUGGESTIONS:
First go over your lawn raking it gently lifting the grass a bit. Next, apply a thin layer of top soil to the affected areas, and then follow-up by spreading a layer of grass seed over each location (follow manufactures recommendations on applying seed and then apply some straw or hay to hold the fresh seed down). Now here is the easy part! Feed your lawn and make sure to water the affected area properly. Be habitual and routinely use this treatment and the affected areas will respond nicely.
Once your new turf is established and blends with the rest of the lawn finish up with fertilizing the area well. Giving grass the nutrients it needs helps it grow thick and full. Deep watering once a week (or more when it's really hot) allows for deeper root growth establishment which conserves water in the long run.
